Role: Co-Writer, Director, and Editing Supervisor.
This customer story was a joy to make. We partnered with a local video production company to shoot all the content that was captured with the family at the sugar house. We interviewed the Mom and two sons, each interview lasted about 30 minutes and we cut them down into the story you see here. These types of videos work so well for the brand because they are a main character in the story. For the viewer it’s engaging because it’s story about a family maple farm, business growth, and the problems they are solving with the technology. Broadband internet is not as compelling as a storytelling narrative on its own. When you bring out the human elements, that’s were the real story is.

We spent a week in rural Maine, traveling around to different communities in Lincoln County. Our approach was to shoot this like a documentary. Small production crew with a couple flight cases of equipment. This was also a fun opportunity for me to utilize my part 107 drone certification flying around some of the most beautiful parts of Maine.

We captured this story over several months. The nature of this story meant timing the nesting period for the loons. We combined remote interviews we conducted on Riverside with a shoot day out at the nests. We contracted a local cinematographer to do the on-site shooting that involved an early morning on the water with the conservationists. The editing for this project was a fun challenge to tie it all together with footage from multiple sources. Pre-production was particularly important on this one as we had to make sure everything aligned to the central story we were telling.
